What Europe costs from your airport

Median fare across roughly 40 European cities, so no single lucky route distorts a gateway’s position. The floor beside each bar is that airport’s best single fare, and the gap between the two is what watching for a drop is worth where you live.

By country

Where we price at least three cities in a country, the question stops being “what does it cost” and becomes which city do I fly into— a different question with a different answer. The other 15 countries in the grid have one or two priced cities between them, so their city pages already say everything a country page could.

Common questions

What is the cheapest way to fly to Europe from the US?
Fly from a well-served gateway to a northern city in the off season. New York had the lowest median fare to Europe at $574 across roughly 40 cities, and Stockholm was the cheapest destination at a $617 median. Nordics & Iceland beat every other region at $638.
How much should a flight to Europe cost?
In the October-to-March window, $617 to $727 round trip in economy is a normal range depending on the city, based on 1,037 fares priced on August 30, 2026. Summer roughly doubles it. If you want to know whether a specific quote is good, we publish a threshold for every city.
Is it cheaper to fly to Europe from a bigger airport?
Usually, but not always, and the gap is smaller than people assume. The spread between the cheapest and most expensive US gateway is $218 on median. More usefully, almost every expensive gateway has at least one European city it reaches for about what New York pays.
When is the cheapest time to fly to Europe?
Late October to mid-December, and January to early March excluding the fortnight around Christmas. Nearly every cheapest-week result in our grid landed in those windows. Summer is roughly double and no booking tactic closes that gap.
