Where does the information come from?

From the airline's own announcement where one exists, otherwise from a named outlet, and every row links to it. This is the only dataset on the site that is not first-party, so provenance is the whole standard: where two reputable sources give different start dates, the row says disputed rather than picking one.

What does the fare column mean?

The cheapest fare on that city pair in our own grid today, by any routing, so you can see what the new nonstop has to beat. Where the destination is not one of the cities we price, it says so; we do not borrow a neighboring city's fare. Several new routes go to places too thin for a widebody, which is why they had no nonstop until an aircraft arrived that could serve them.

Does a new nonstop make the route cheaper?

Sometimes, briefly, and mostly not. A launch fare exists to fill the first months; the connecting European carriers that set the floor on most routes keep pricing to fill their hubs. The tool shows the current floor beside each announcement so the launch fare can be judged against it rather than against the airline's own press release.

How often is this updated?

The list was last reviewed August 31, 2026 and statuses are recomputed on every build against the day's date. Routes that are withdrawn move to the routes hub's ending list rather than disappearing, because a route that quietly vanished is information too.

Route announcements are the one dataset here that is not first-party, so every row names the outlet or airline it came from, and two conflicting start dates are shown as disputed rather than resolved. “Costs today” is the cheapest fare on that city pair in our own grid, any routing, so you can see what the new nonstop has to beat.

What a new route actually changes

A new nonstop is news, and news is cheap to publish, which is why every travel site has a list. What the list usually lacks is the number that decides whether the route matters to you: what the city pair costs today. That column comes from our own grid, so an Austin flyer reading that Austin to Frankfurt is launching can see the current floor and judge the launch fare against it rather than against the airline’s press release.

The pattern across the list is that the new aircraft, above all the A321XLR, opens routes to cities too thin for a widebody: Terceira, the Azores, secondary Italian and Spanish cities. Several of them are places our grid does not price, and the tool says “not priced” rather than borrowing a neighbor’s fare. The written analysis of what these launches mean, and for whom, is New Flights to Europe; the routes being withdrawn are on the ending list, because a route that quietly disappears is information too.

What it cannot tell you

Whether a route will survive. Norse Atlantic, LEVEL and PLAY between them show how quickly a transatlantic launch can be reversed, and an announcement is a plan, not a schedule you can count on a year out. Book the first months of a new route with that in mind, and prefer a fare you can change.
